reflection:

This exercise was an interesting opportunity to collaborate with a classmate with similar project development and expertise. It allowed us both to explore the possibility of building an artifact with the intention to engage with a group of people and start a conversation regarding the way we occupy public space and different uses we can give to it if the equipment allows it.

However, as the project evolved it became evident that the exercise wasn't a proposal that responded to the reality of the community of practice that was already engaged with for the purpose of the design studio main project, and had no relevance to their situation as manifested by a member of this group upon inquiry. For this reason the exercise lacked an implementation in the context.

Nevertheless, it was a very interesting opportunity to apply digital manufacturing focused on community based activities.

reflection:

This exercise turned out to be a very interesting experience on how to combine digital tools with fiscal artifacts in an unconventional way through the use of digital fabrication, ai models and body tracking technology. The end result was very challenging and has many limitations. Nevertheless it was a very insightful experience and allowed the team to explore beyond their expertise.

The project delivered as expected and was able to share a live crowd sensing experience to the audience using scrap material and the available fabrication technology in the campus (cnc milling) which proved to be more than sufficient. After presenting the end product and receiving different feedback from our classmates, it became clear that the project could benefit from the use of two projectors aimed to the desired area rather than just one.

Nevertheless, the end result was very satisfying and open the door to the possibility of implementing this kind of technology to collect different sets of data, from any community and display an immediate response.
