The project developed as an immersive, sixteen month experience in a peripheral neighborhood of the city to question how informal actions of making in public space interact with social theories of individualism.

To do this, the research questions the role of the designer in a specific urban context through active involvement in diverse communal activities to explore informal ways of intervening and the way they influence the social and material development of its environment, in contrast to institutional intervention.

The concept of individualism is approached from a systemic point of view as a deliberate consequence of contemporary social phenomena previously identified and contrasted throughout the experience. Reactions to this phenomena are then proposed as situated design interventions.
